The Florence Award for Renewed Humanism and conference

March 20, 2024 - Firenze, Palazzo Vecchio, Salone dei 500

Each year, the Club of Florence presents a prestigious award to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in climate action. This esteemed distinction is the focal point of a captivating series of side events, some open to the public and others held confidential. The Award Ceremony serves as a high-profile summit, bringing together leaders from national and international institutions alongside local influencers such as European Mayors leading the way in achieving net-zero cities. The event encourages active participation, engaging local representatives from youth groups, academia, civil society, and micro and small businesses.

This extraordinary event acts as a magnetic force, drawing world leaders and influential figures in the climate debate to Florence. The Award recognizes outstanding individuals who have initiated significant paradigm shifts in economic and social spheres, particularly in climate action.

Honoring Our First Recipient

Mark Carney

The inaugural recipient of the Florence Award for Renewed Humanism is Mr Mark Carney, a distinguished figure who has served as the former Governor of The Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Climate Action and Climate Finance. We are immensely honoured that Mr Carney has accepted this prestigious award, considering his exceptional contributions to establishing and leading the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ).

To commemorate this momentous occasion, we have extended invitations to several influential individuals from international public and private organizations who have made significant strides in achieving carbon neutrality within their corporations and institutions.
