Happy spring from Florence Copper! On top of the warmer spring temperatures and beautiful wildflowers, our team is excited for the spring season because Florence Copper is at a very important point in our project’s development.
Florence Copper recently initiated preparations for construction of our commercial production facility. This expands our smaller-scale production test facility, which successfully produced over one million pounds of copper on site using our innovative and proven in-situ copper recovery technology. If you’ve driven by our site recently, you will likely have seen more activity occurring and new equipment arriving.
In addition, drill rigs have mobilized to the site, and well construction activities for the commercial facility have begun (see photo below). During a two-year construction phase, Florence Copper looks forward to investing approximately $230 million to build project facilities and infrastructure in Florence.
Do you have questions about Florence Copper or our construction program? Join us at the Florence Woman’s Club (231 Willow St in Florence) on Wednesday, April 23, from 4 – 7 PM for a Florence Copper Open House, and an opportunity to speak with our team, enjoy some delicious snacks from local Florence restaurants, and learn more about our project. Please note this is a NEW DATE for our Open House, which was delayed from April 10 due to concerns about Country Thunder traffic in Florence.
Finally, Florence Copper is excited to announce some exciting economic news for Florence, Pinal County, and the State of Arizona. The L. William Seidman Research Institute at Arizona State University (ASU) recently published an updated economic and fiscal impact study of the Florence Copper project.
The ASU study forecasts economic benefits generated by Florence Copper over 26 years of project activity, including:
- Stimulating Economic Growth: Florence Copper will contribute over $4.3 billion to Arizona’s economy.
- Creating Jobs: Florence Copper will support an annual average of 819 direct, indirect, and induced jobs in Arizona, including nearly 500 in Pinal County.
- Supporting Local Municipalities: Florence Copper will contribute over $115 million in taxes to the Town of Florence.
As we embark on this exciting new chapter in Florence Copper’s history, our team sincerely thanks you for your continued support over the years.
