The Florence Copper Community Foundation is proud to announce its recent grant award of $1,000 to the Florence Knights of Columbus. This funding will support the Knights’ “St. Mother Teresa’s Helping Hands” Ministry, a vital program run through the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church that provides care packages, financial assistance, and essential resources to individuals and families in need throughout the Florence area.

The “Helping Hands” Ministry focuses on offering a variety of services to those who find themselves in difficult circumstances. Care packages, primarily filled with food, are distributed to local families facing food insecurity. Additionally, the ministry offers financial support for critical needs such as mortgage or rent payments, utility bills, prescription medications, and temporary shelter. These services are designed to provide immediate relief and help ease the burden of those struggling to make ends meet.

Wilbur Freeman, Grand Knight of the Florence Knights of Columbus, expressed his gratitude for the grant. “The real winners of this grant are the underprivileged individuals and families that qualify for assistance.”

John Mays, General Manager of Florence Copper, emphasized the significance of this partnership. “We are honored to support the Knights of Columbus and their ‘Helping Hands’ Ministry through this grant. This program is truly making a difference by providing critical support to those in need, and we’re proud to play a small part in their mission of compassion and service.”

The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization, has long been known for its commitment to charity and community service. Through the “Helping Hands” initiative, they extend the teachings of their faith into actionable support for vulnerable populations. The collaboration with the Florence Copper Community Foundation strengthens their ability to continue this impactful work, ensuring more people in Florence have access to the help they need during challenging times.
